Bromley are up for the Cup

Does Christmas and New Year already feel like an age ago? It does to me. As we make our way through the second week of 2025, a lot is happening. However, let’s take a moment to pause and think about the awful scenes of the wildfires that are currently happening in Los Angeles right now. The 8:01 is a local community newsletter and it would be terrible should we have similar scenes like this in our area of Chislehurst. Let’s just hope the fires get under control quickly and Angelenos can rebuild their homes, properties and lives back soon.

“We’re black, we’re white, we’re ******* dynamite…” A well-known chant that’s frequently heard at Hayes Lane, and, this weekend St James’ Park, Newcastle. On Sunday, Bromley FC will be playing Premier League giants Newcastle United in the third round of the FA Cup. This is a fantastic achievement for the Ravens and whilst it might be a test too far, I’m sure the travelling fans and those of us watching on TV will give the team their biggest support. You’ll be able to follow the game live on BBC iPlayer.

From next Tuesday, the Imperial Arms on Old Hill are bringing back their Steak Nights. Two Grass Fed sirloin steaks with artisan fries and a bottle of our delicious wine for just £49.95 for two. From midday till 8.30. Booking advisable.
