Hello, {{ Fname | reader }}!

👋 It’s 8:01 on Friday Morning 👋

This week's edition has local elections, a Japanese lunch spot in Spitalfields, community events in Chislehurst to put in the diary, a heads-up about summer rail closures for commuters, and a snippet about Location, Location, Location coming to South London.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope you enjoy!

We had local elections this week, and by the time you read this, we’ll probably still be waiting to hear the full results. Regardless of which way things turn out, we must remember we’re fortunate to have the democratic right to make our own choices.

This has also been a short week with the May Day bank holiday, but don’t despair as we have another one coming up on 25th.

Your Retirement Savings Need to Outlast You

Most retirement plans underestimate two things: how long your savings need to last, and how quietly inflation erodes them along the way.

The 15-Minute Retirement Plan helps you close both gaps with practical guidance on longevity risk, purchasing power, and building a financial plan that doesn't run out before you do.

If you’re after Japanese Food In Town…

Kushi, Spitalfields Market

Bought lunch at another new spot for me this week in Spitalfields Market at Kushi. This place offers a short menu of Japanese delights such as chicken katsu or beef meatballs.

(Did you know: Katsu (カツ) is a shortened form of katsuretsu (カツレツ), the Japanese translation of the English word “cutlet”)

🏘️ In Chislehurst… 🏘️

Chislehurst Netball Club

The netball club are looking for new players. Playing in the Kent North West Divisions 2, 5, 7 and 9, the club are holding a couple of trial sessions for those who’d like to get involved on May-30 and Jun-27, both 10am - 12 pm at Coopers School.

Coopers School Reunion 2001 - 2006

Talking of Coopers School, if you attended between 2001 and 2006, you might be interested in the reunion that’s taking place on Saturday at The Oaks Eltham from 7:00 pm.

Chislehurst Summer Fair

Pencil in the 13th: Chislehurst Rotary Club's Summer Fair is back on the Common (near Prickend Pond) for what is, for many, the unofficial start of proper summer. Expect stalls of every variety, a funfair, food outlets, and crucially, a Beer & Pimm's tent.

🚂 The Commute 🚂

A little while a way yet, but it’s worth noting that Charing Cross and Waterloo East stations will be closed for a 22-day period over the summer. Starting on Jul-26 until Aug-16, there will be significant engineering works taking place. Trains will either be diverted to Victoria, Cannon Street and Blackfriars, or simply terminate at London Bridge.

👂 Heard on the Platform 👂

Did you hear that Phil & Kirsty will be headed to South London for series 29, and the producers of Location, Location, Location are looking for participants on the show. So you’ve been hunting for the ideal home, but haven’t been able to find it yet, why not apply to be on the show!
