This week has already started to warm up, and unbelievably for a bank holiday, we’re due some really good weather. Plenty of sun, no rain and one forecast even predicting highs of 32° on Monday! A great to chance to enjoy some of our local business then, bbq in the garden, or perhaps a trip to the coast.

If you’re after a little calm in town…

The Barbican Centre

You don’t need me to tell you that the city can be a pretty hectic place and finding a moment of peace can be pretty hard. One place where you can escape for a break though is the Barbican. Obviously this venue puts on a lot of performances, but with extensive outdoor areas and a great kitchen cafe, it’s also a great place to come and sit next to the water with a coffee; and with the current weather forecast, soak up some sun.

🏘️ In Chislehurst… 🏘️

Summer Festival, Royal Parade

This Sunday will see a brand new Summer Festival at Royal Parade, from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Many of our local business will be setting up outdoor stalls offer food and drink to enjoy, with live music and activities for the kids. For once, it seems we’re going to have really decent weather too.

CWKCC Raffle

The cricket club are hoping to raise funds towards the much needed new pavilion and are running a raffle. £10 for 5 tickets, with the chance to win some pretty good prizes including a meal for two at Due Amici, £100 at Royal Parade dry cleaners and 1 to 1 cricket coaching. Tickets can be bought from club captains, at the club hours bar and also from JDM Estate Agents on the High Street.

Plant Sale, Friends of Chislehurst Recreation Ground

On May-30, the FOCRG gardening club will be hosting their annual plant sale up on the Rec, 10:30 am till 3:00 pm. A great time to get something new for the garden.

🚂 The Commute 🚂

The tube strikes were thankfully called off, for now at least which no doubt was helpful for those of us commuting this week. Planed strikes on June 18 and 19 have also been cancelled but new ones on June 2 and 4 are on the horizon.

👂 Heard on the Platform 👂

A new traffic camera has been installed overlooking the junction at Old Hill and Bromley Road although believed to be not yet active. This isn’t a speed camera, but is monitoring anyone that might enter the yellow box. I don’t think there’s much of a problem at this junction typically, but the council are known to rotate these cameras around the borough. Pay attention to new signs going up.
