Hello, {{ Fname | reader }}!

Welcome to this Friday’s edition of The 8:01

This week we cover:

  • Quick and delicious noodles

  • Board and Barrel’s one year anniversary

  • Bromley Buzz podcast

  • More post box toppers

Chislehurst has been a distant memory this week as we’re away on holiday, and whilst driving through France it was a surprise to see the small village we were driving through, Therouanne, was twinned with Ham Street, and whilst not particularly near Chislehurst, it’s not too far down the M20, and makes you realise just how close Kent is to France and there’s probably lots of “twinning” between the two.

In Town

Marugame Udon, 449 Strand

A former colleague of mine used to love this place for lunch as it’s extremely quick service, but it’s also pretty decent quality at a reasonable price. It’s also a good spot for a quick meal before heading to the theatre or something too, and located on the Strand it’s almost exactly opposite you as you leave Charing Cross.

At Home

Board and Barrel, the High Street

It’s been one year since Board and Barrel charcuterie and wine bar opened on the High Street and offers a nice relaxed venue to enjoy some fine food and drinks. They also put on some music events in the evening so do keep an eye out for those.

For those of you that like to listen to a podcast on your commute, you might like to add Bromley Buzz to your playlist. This is an entirely local podcast based around Bromley which just like The 8:01, aims to bring positive news for the area.

Last week marked the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, and once again Nicola Ross and her mum Dot, adorned the post box next to Hornbrook House car park with their fantastic topper. We featured Nicola back in a previous edition which you can read here.
