Hello, {{ Fname | reader }}!

Welcome to this Friday’s edition of The 8:01

This week we cover:

  • A new(ish) wine bar in Covent Garden

  • Cinnamon Culture

  • Tube strikes seem set

  • Hazelmere Underpass looks wonderful

What a start to Autumn. The season has definitely changed, with us getting some huge downpours of rain in the last couple of days. Soon enough the leaves will start to change which makes it a great time of year for walks around Hawkwood, Scadbury and much further afield, Bedgebury Pinetum and Forest.

In Town

Cecilia’s Wine House, Drury Lane

Only a short walk from Charing Cross, Cecilia’s is a relatively new wine bar in Covent Garden on Drury Lane. As well as a lovely bar, they are also a wine shop so if you’ve had a glass of something you liked, you can easily buy a bottle to take home.

At the minute, they are offering a Saturday morning brunch for 2 at £53.

At Home

Cinnamon Culture, the High Street

Once located on Plaistow Lane by Sundridge Park, Cinnamon Culture is now well established on the High Street since the end of 2021. Offering some of the best Indian cuisine around the area. They always have a really nice door display too. As the nights start to draw in, a visit should be in your plans.

The Commute

As mentioned last week, a big concern for those of us that travel into town for work, is the planned tube strikes. This appears to be kicking off from Sunday, and through to Thursday, with services returning after 8:00 Friday morning; but who goes to the office on a Friday!?

Heard on the Platform

It’s wonderful to see that the mural on Hazelmere Underpass at Pettswood was recently completed. It makes would could be a dark and intimidating pedestrian route much brighter and welcoming. The Chislehurst Society were once again a significant contributor to the project along with Petts Wood & District Residents’ Association and contributions from, One Inn the Wood, the PW Business Group and LBB and Network Rail.
