Hello, {{ Fname | reader }}!

Welcome to this Friday’s edition of The 8:01

This week we cover:

  • Bodean’s is always good for some barbecue

  • Robert Bicknell shines

  • The library re-opens

  • Royal Parade closed to traffic for a week

  • Will the new pedestrian crossing on Royal Parade impact business?

With it being peak BBQ season, it’s occurred to me we’re missing a butcher in Chislehurst. I’m sure a while back there was a branch of Larder on Royal Parade near the Bull’s Head, but that’s been closed a while. I suppose their location near Sundridge Park isn’t too far away, and there’s also the Butchers Hook in Petts Wood.

Where do you get your good BBQ meats from?

In Town

Bodean’s, Covent Garden

Talking of BBQ, Bodean’s is a great spot to try out some slow cooked meat. I first came across this small chain in Soho which was close to the office at the time. It’s where I first came across delights like smoked brisket, pulled pork and burnt ends. Not a lot on the menu has changed since those days, but ti’s still a great spot for some slow ‘n’ low.

At Home

Robert Bicknell, Green Lane

We had need to visit it jeweller this week, after being let down by someone else, and so stopped in at Robert Bicknell, on Green Lane. And whilst we’re still waiting for the work to be done, the service and attention levels so far have been excellent. Excited to see how the repaired item will come back!

The Commute

I’ve managed to avoid going in to central London all week, what a delight. We really should be more like the French and just stop work in August and de-camp to the south coast.

Heard on the Platform

Our library on Red Hill will finally re-open next week on Friday 22nd. It closed last November and was part of Bromley’s £11m repair program.

Royal Parade will be closed for a week starting Monday 18th as they new pedestrian crossing gets put in, just down from the War Memorial junction. Let’s hope that the loss of 8 parking bays doesn’t impact business along the parade.
