It Wasn't To Be For The Ravens
Bromley's FA Cup run comes to a proud end, water leaks still plague Chislehurst and Hungerford Bridge is to undergo major maintenance.
Hello, reader!
January still lumbers along. I was up on the high street for lunch on Wednesday and commented just how grey and sombre it was. It can be hard to find much passion or inspiration on these days. But, onwards we go. Spring will be here before we know it.
In this week’s newsletter:
Bromley miss out in the FA Cup
Yet more water leaks
Hungerford Bridge is getting a makeover.
Sport
It wasn’t to be for the Ravens. Despite taking the lead, Bromley eventually lost 3-1 to Premier League side Newcastle United. Whilst this is a loss, the scoreline was more than respectable for Bromley who can be proud of their achievement in this year’s FA Cup. With that, it’s back to the reality of EFL Two this weekend as they host Colchester at Hayes Lane, kick-off at 3:00 pm.
Infrastructure
We have all enjoyed the recent re-opening of Station Approach, making driving around Chislehurst much easier. But when one set of works closes, another seems to open. On Wednesday 15th, Thames Water were attending to a water leak outside the Bridge Fish & Chip shop, which saw the need to put in temporary traffic lights. There were quite a few water leaks in this area last year, and despite all the work, it seems to be an ongoing problem. Hopefully, Thames Water will have this one sorted in good time for the weekend.
Travel
Hungerford Bridge, which takes trains over the Thames and into Charing Cross, is about to undergo some significant maintenance work. The work is likely to take three years and finish in the winter of 2028. However, Network Rail are saying there will only be minimal disruption, but there could be some weekend closures at some point.
David Davidson, Network Rail’s Kent Route director said:
Refurbishment of Hungerford Bridge will take three years, and we won’t need to close the bridge to trains during this first phase as we’ll be working at times that cause the least disruption to train services. This means we are carrying out some of our work during the night
Weather
The weekend weather for Chislehurst:
