Hello, {{ Fname | reader }}!
👋 Welcome to this Friday’s edition of The 8:01 👋
With Christmas only a week away, there are plenty of festive items to look forward to in the area. There’s a Christingle Service at St Nicks tomorrow and there’s the last Farmers Market of the year on Sunday.
Hope you enjoy this week’s edition.
We’re closing in on the end of the year quickly, and this will be our last full edition of the 8:01 until January. This week the city has already felt a touch quieter as many of us wind down ahead of the Christmas break. Schools will be out by the end of today, leaving us with hopefully, a few pleasant days at the start of next week to spend with friends and family, and very likely getting our final bits sorted.
I’ll be hosting for both Christmas day and New Year’s Eve which I’m very much looking forward to. There are already plans to visit a couple of local venues such as The Crown at Sundridge Park, the Bickley Arms and The Cockpit.
Hope to see many folk in our local venues over the next couple of weeks.
A Message From Pique Life
The Season’s Secret to Radiant Skin is 20% Off!
As the holidays approach and the year winds down, I’ve been craving simplicity—rituals that keep me grounded, radiant, and nourished from within. Cold weather and full schedules can leave skin dull or dehydrated, but this season my glow has stayed strong thanks to Pique’s Radiant Skin Duo. It’s an effortless inside-out ritual that supports skin, energy, and overall wellbeing.
Sun Goddess Matcha is my calming morning start—ceremonial-grade, rich in EGCG, and incredible for firming, brightening, and supporting gut balance.
B·T Fountain, my afternoon reset, is a clean beauty electrolyte powered by clinically proven ceramides that hydrate at a cellular level, reduce redness, and visibly plump skin—without sugar or fillers.
Together, they strengthen the skin barrier, support collagen, and deliver deep hydration for a glow that lasts. Clean, pure, and travel-friendly, it’s the easiest ritual to bring into the new year feeling luminous and renewed.
Some Virtual Fun
Clays, Moorgate
Clays is another variation of interactive sports bar, only this time you’re clay pigeon shooting. And it’s pretty fun. You take a “shotgun” and shoot at a screen depicting a clay shooting range. I’ve only ever been real clay shooting once in my life, and I recall just how far in front you had to aim for an accurate hit, and this virtual game was no difference. Along with the shooting action, there is of course a full bar and a range of food options.
Clays would be good for any team social night out.
Along with the location I visited in the City, you’ll also find venues in Canary Wharf and Soho.

🏘️ In Chislehurst… 🏘️
Last Farmers Market of 2025
The last farmers market of the year will be this Sunday 21st at Hornbrook House Car Park, on the High Street. This could well be a great choice for any last minute bits for the big day, or even just a quick treat for yourself if you’re shopping along the High Street.
Christingle Service at St Nicholas
There will be a Christingle Service at St Nicholas on the High Street tomorrow (Sat) at 4:00 pm. There will be carols, an opportunity to help build the nativity and a chance to enjoy a welcoming celebration.

🚂 The Commute 🚂
Last Sunday saw a new timetable come in, which doesn’t seem to have resulted in any major changes to the train times, but the service this week has been pretty bad. If you’re not a regular on the trains, I would advise you check the new time table as services may not be at the same time as you’re used to.
👂 Heard on the Platform 👂
Joelle’s on the High Street will be open on Christmas Day from 7.30 am - 1:00 pm. Ideal if you want to get out of the house for a bit during the morning. Mulled wine and mince pies will be on the menu.
