The Calm of Summer
And just like that, we're into August, the peak of summer. I feel sorry for our schoolchildren who sat in class during those boiling days we had a few weeks back, only to be met with showers and thunderstorms as soon as term ended.
With schools now "out for the summer," there's a quieter feeling around Chislehurst. Indeed, it's more peaceful in the mornings without the school run taking place, which I don't mind at all, and lots of families have started to go away for their summer holiday.
As mentioned last week, the football season is now underway, although we have away fixtures for both Chislehurst Glebe and Bromley, unless you're travelling, we'll have to wait to see them in action locally.
Along with a new season comes a new website, Chislehurst Glebe. You can find the new website here > https://glebefootball.com/

In Town
The number of places to eat and drink in Borough Market is considerable. Consequently, it can be very easy to overlook venues that have been under your nose the whole time. I’m very familiar with the Wheatsheaf and Market Porter pubs, but what I’ve never paid attention to nestled in between them is the Mexican restaurant, El Pastor, which is a shame. I want for the first time last week and can report that the food was excellent. Tacos, tostadas and sides were all great.
Along with the food, the view from our table, as the sun started to set, was equally enjoyable.
