Hello, {{ Fname | reader }}!
👋 Welcome to this Friday’s edition of The 8:01 👋
When do you start to think about Christmas? Now that both Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night are behind us, do you immediately take down the pumpkins and ghouls and replace them with reindeer’s and Santa’s, or do you wait until at least December?
If you’ve been into Costa Coffee on the High Street, you’ve no doubt already noticed the Christmas playlist started a couple of weeks ago, which for me, is probably too early at the start of November. The Glades will be turning on their Christmas lights this Sunday, at 1:30pm, which is fairly well timed, whilst the Christmas Market in Bromley opened for business last Friday.
In this current climate, I feel anything that brings a sense of fun and celebration can’t be a bad thing, but let’s not go too early.

If you’re after a Pub with Tinsel…
The Cross Keys, Endell Street
🍺🍺🍺On the theme of Christmas, if you’re thinking of meeting friends in town, or some work drinks, the Cross Keys in Covent Garden is a great choice. This is a proper pub with lots of character, which at Christmas, you’ll find decorated in an abundance of tinsel. Great to show anyone from out of town too, as it offers an authentic ‘London experience’.🍻🍻🍻

👂 Heard on the Platform 👂
It was a shame to hear from the Chislehurst Society that the Christmas Fair has been cancelled for this year. As with many things, the cost of putting on this event is becoming prohibitive, and whilst many people enjoy the event, it takes a lot of volunteers to both plan, and run the fair. They did state they hope to bring the event back for 2026.
If you were saddened with the news, maybe start to think now about how you might be able to help support the event for 2026, I’m sure the Society would be very appreciative.
What’s On? Well lots, actually!
