Brick Lane Bagel Has Opened
After much anticipation, Brick Lane Bagel final opened their doors on Chislehurst High Street last weekend. By their own admission it was a great day with bagel’s selling out by 2:00pm.
With Fico Bianco also opening in April, it’s fantastic to see new businesses investing in our neighbourhood.
Scadbury Park Manor House Conservation
Following a successful grant application, supported by Historic England, from the Rural Payments Agency, the Council has received £434,000 to conduct a detailed feasibility study. This crucial study will pave the way for a second phase of conservation work, primarily focusing on capital repair to the moats and rebuilding sections of the moat walls.
This initiative builds on previous repair and conservation work undertaken in 2022, which addressed urgent repairs and stabilised brickwork at the site. The long-term plan to conserve the manor house is a key action within the Council's Open Space Strategy.
Councillor Will Rowlands, Executive Councillor for Environment, expressed gratitude for the support from the Orpington and District Archaeological Society (ODAS) and Historic England, highlighting the historical significance of the site, which was even visited by Queen Elizabeth I over 400 years ago!
Churchill Theatre’s Future Secured
And in more cultural good news, there has been an agreement between Bromley Council and the Galliard Group that guarantees theatrical performances and shows can continue at the Churchill.
Trafalgar Entertainment, the current operators, will continue to develop the theatre's offerings and bring forward investment plans to further enhance the venue. This collaboration marks a promising new chapter for the Churchill Theatre

In Town
With the first Test Match of the summer starting today, England v India, it’s safe to say the cricket season is very much upon us. However, you don’t need to don full cricket whites to have a bit of fun. The chain Sixes has now been around since 2020 and boasts 13 UK locations and even a venue in Texas. The easiest location of us to get to in Chislehurst is probably the one on Bermondsey street, being a 5 minute walk from London Bridge Station.
Sixes is made up of batting cages where you face a simulated bowler who delivers a ball for you to smash at a number of targets, and it’s all good fun, especially when combined with some food and drink.
